LUNGS & THINGS

The lungs are like 2 bags in our chest that fill with air and give our bodies oxygen. We need that oxygen to live.

Blood is moving all around our body. So when the oxygen gets into the blood it can reach all our organs and cells helping them to work properly! Blood also carries a waste gas (carbon dioxide) back to the lungs - which then breathe it out.
Oxygen is like fuel for our body. All our cells and organs need it so that they can work properly. Our lungs are very busy all day helping to refuel our body. On average we take 23,000 breaths a day!
Oxygen is very, very tiny-that is why you can't see it in the air. This makes it easy for the oxygen to pass across the lungs and into our blood.
